I am a bit perplexed as to why the administrator has stopped the discussion on the Rob Taylor issue as there is clearly a lot of things to be said on the matter. This issue has split the club down the middle and it will be discussed for a very long time and may even come back to haunt the board in the future.
Anyway I would like to add a couple of points myself. Firstly Rob did not apply for the Diss job, he was offered it and turned it down. He made it clear he was not interested in the Wroxham or Kings Lynn jobs either, decisions I am sure he now regrets due to the lack of loyalty shown to him as opposed to the loyalty he has shown the club. He chose to remain at Dereham Town FC because he started something he wanted to see through and because he could see the potential in the club not to mention the fact it is his home town club. For those of you who believe he was only there for the money I would like to point out the numerous fund raising activities he arranged which were not in his contract of employment. For me i feel he has done a great job for the club and I am sorry to see him go and wish him all the best for the future.
Now to straighten out some other issues. Simon Barnes and his family have put a lot of hard work and time into the club over the last couple of years and this has helped finance to an extent the budget that Rob was able to work with. I don't think anybody has the right to question Simons use of the offices to run his business as he is also spending his time running the club. This is time nobody else is either willing or able to put in. For those of you who think you can do a better job either put up or shut up. For those of you with a lack of knowledge as to how a committee works, Simon, as chairman, would not have had to vote as the chairman has the casting vote in the event of a draw.
As far as the committee doing what is right for the club, I would question the decision to apply to move up a league when we clearly have not got the finance in place to make that move. To then sack the manager for overspending seems a bit rich. I think the club does need to go foward but at a steady pace and I think the majority of the committee have that goal at heart. Once again I would say for those who think they can do a better job put up or shut up.
Finally I would like to say good luck to Gus and the boys, it was a good start so keep up the good work.
