I would just like to congratulate Dereham on achieving what turned out to be a good result today. The game epitimised what was a typical cup tie but surely the turning point was the dismisal of Wright.
His 2 goals in the 1st half had a touch of quality about them and Howell was very unlucky not score after also showing similar skill and pace.
In last weeks pink un Hilton wrote that if Wroxham could stop Wright then they would have a very good chance to reach the final. It was a shame that the Wroxham centre half felt that the only way to do this was to get the striker sent off.
Anyone that had a good view of the tackle that led to this decision (as I did) would have seen there was no malice or intent in the challange.
The defender clearly played on the incident knowing Wright was on a yellow. No treatment was necessary and the opposing player was soon on his feet after rolling around in agony for a few seconds to impress the referee. Sadly the official saw the incident as most in his position do.
To be fair to Wroxham they were already level after 2 well taken strikes.
With Dereham down to 10 men they did well to hold on to a result although they probabally still had the best chances to win the game in the last period. Jermy and Sam Willis in my opinion deserve a mention as their energy and commitment denied Wroxham of the advantage that an extra man should give a team.
Brendan Foley also had an excellent game .
I really hope that the team can finish the job on Tuesday and like others look foward to seeing the replay.
