After the reserves beat Sprowston 6-1 on Saturday, have they turned the corner after their run of defeats, or was it just a one-off win against a rubbish bottom-of-the-table team?
Was anyone there?

Let's hope so. Just goes the show the impact of Macnab-Grieve! Several weeks sat on his arse on the first team bench coincided with the stiffs recent poor run. Be nice to see a match report. They stopped when the results dipped. Regardless of scorelines, it's good to hear how the team have performed and who is doing the business. No report smacks of sour grapes. Let's hope the corner is turned and that the first team management support the reserve team management in getting the necessary players doing the business and ensuring promotion as soon as possible. The top of Div 1 is very tight and with suspensions starting to bite, now is the time to get the results. Well done boys! Long may it continue.

maybe if you got your facts right mav has been sub twice and played once at harwich when 4more res where invovled no res game that day so don't blame the first team management for them losing 5 on the spin lot of game the first team only take 3subs maybe its time to look at the res team management and players

Interesting comments. At the end of the day, the team that comes 1st is indeed the 1st team. If the 1st team management needs to take the in form players from the reserves and it reduces the reserves strength, then so be it. No matter how much we all want to see the reserves gain promotion, this is how the system is, past, present and future. I am sure it is frustrating for Eggy and Nashy but I can assure you, they know the game enough to realise this and hopefully the players do also.
Also I have played a few times for the reserves this season and to be honest, the standard in that league is absolute garbage. Whether Mav is playing or not we should still get promoted with the players in there. Fact. Lets hope the boys can get a good winning run going and get to where they should be.

Since the Wells game (the start of the Reserves poor run):
Wells (a) - drew 0-0 - Mav not in squad (don't know why?)
Wroxham Reserves (a) lost 3-1 - Mav played.
Stalham (a) - lost 2-0 - Mav on bench for first team vs. Stanway. got 10 mins, according to club website.
Loddon (h) - lost 3-1 - Mav played.
Hindringham (h) - lost 3-1 - Mav on bench for first team vs. Diss. again, brought on for 10 mins according to club website.
Mundford (a) - lost 2-1 - Mav played.
Sprowston (a) - won 6-1 - Mav played.
Doesn't seem to make a difference either way by the looks of it.
Sorry Mav if you're reading this! (do any of the players read this website by the way?)

To see who has played for the 1st team this season look at the statistics on the web site. Every game played in the Ridgeons league has the team sheet on it. Make up your own minds from the facts!

Cheers Just Wondering....that does sort of shoot down my theory. However, I do reinforce the point that promotion from Division one will not be a cake walk and that there is a need for the reserves to be as strong as possible each week. Foxy - you're right, the first team should come first, but as above promotion requries consistency and access to players of the appropriate calibre. Macnab-Grieve was a for instance, but I'm sure there are other examples of key reserve team players being drafted into the first team squad. In future I'll check my facts first.

After last saturdays result promotion is a distant dream for a very under acieving bunch of individually very good players.

What do you suggest then weeman!!!!! where do the res go from here then are you saying that they will not gain promotion this season....... as last sat was a cup game so they can now consentrate on the league....... Why don't people get behind them and make comments that can help!!!!!!! Big Man......

Done some more research, when Mav or Wes Baines have been missing, the reserves haven't won a single match. So perhaps I was a bit harsh on Mav before!
Can they still go up? I think they can, but they need to start believing again - on Saturday I don't think they did.

Of course they can still get promoted, there's loads of games left. Are they good enough to gain promotion?, is the question we should be asking. Not on present form but with the players they have in the squad, there is certainly enough quality to turn the results around and gain promotion. Hopefully they will be back to winning ways soon.

Yes i agree that promotion looks unlikely but you never know, all it takes is a few slip ups from the guys above us. As long as we focus on our games it could still happen.
